The Photos app on OS X is great, but sometimes launching an application just to get to your images can feel like a real chore. This is especially true if you access your images often. In some situations, you may be better off storing images in File Cabinet Pro instead. In this quick tutorial, I’ll show you how you can easily migrate a photo album from Photos to File Cabinet Pro.
Step One: Launch Photos and Select an Album.
Open the Photos application and select the “Albums” tab at the top of the window. In the list of photo albums you see in the window, select a photo album you would like to export. With the photo album selected, click “File” in the menu bar and select “Export Unmodified Original” under the “Export” submenu.
Now you need to choose a location to save the images to in the save panel that pops up. To keep things simple, I suggest choosing the Desktop. Before you export the album, I also recommend you click the “New Folder” button in the save panel and give the folder the same name as the photo album you are exporting.
After you created the new folder, go ahead and export the album.
Step Two: Drag and Drop the Folder to File Cabinet Pro
After you have exported the photo album, all you have to do is drag and drop it up to File Cabinet Pro. Note that exported Photos are copied, so your album will still be in the Photos app. If you want to remove the album from Photos after it is exported, go back to Photos and delete the album.
Step Three: Open the Folder in File Cabinet Pro
Double click the folder you just dropped in File Cabinet Pro to see your photos! That’s it!

Today I have released Image Extractor for Microsoft Word Documents on the Mac App Store. Image Extractor for Microsoft Word Documents allows you to extract all the images out of your Microsoft Word document files (.docx and .doc files). All you have to do is drag and drop a .docx or .doc file on to the window and Image Extractor for Microsoft Word Documents will begin scanning the document for images.
Why use it?
Most text editors on Mac OS X do not fully support Microsoft Word file formats. Most of the document converter apps out there on Mac strip out all the images from Word document files if you try to convert it to another format (like textutil). If you have a Word document and you want to extract all the images out, you can do it now without having to buy expensive software.
You’re arguing with a friend about something, and you decide you’ll settle the argument the old fashion way: flip a coin! Don’t have any change? No problem! Use the Coin Flip app!
Coin Flip is the first coin flipping widget for OS X Yosemite’s Notification Center! Easily add the “Coin Flip Widget” in the Notification Center and flip a coin at any time!
-Easily flip a coin on your Mac. You can flip a coin from the main app or optionally add the Coin Flip Widget in the Notification Center!
-Flip up to four coins at the same time!
-Lands on heads or tails. It’s a random coin flip just like in real life.
-Choose different coins to flip!
Today I have released PDF Image Xtractor on the Mac App Store! PDF Image Xtractor is a tool that allows you to extract all the images out of a PDF file (you guessed it!). All you have to do is drag and drop a PDF file on to the window and PDF Image Xtractor will begin scanning the document for images.
You can even have PDF Image Xtractor look for images in a specific page range. So if you have a 300 page PDF file and you only want to get the images on page 4 through 16, PDF Image Xtractor allows you to do that.
Once PDF Image Xtractor is done scanning your PDF file for images, it will present an image gallery-like user interface showing you all the images it has found. You can save extracted images as PNG, JPG, BMP, or TIFF.
If you need to get images out of a PDF file, this tool will save you tons of time! You can get PDF Image Xtractor on the Mac App Store here!
Image Tinter has been released on the Mac App Store! Image Tinter allows you to easily add a tint color to your images! All you have to do is drag and drop an image onto the window, select the color you wish to tint your image, and adjust the opacity level of the tint color. Image Tinter will apply the tint color over the opaque regions of your image. Image Tinter allows you to completely change the color of fully opaque icons and/or apply an awesome semi-transparent tint color overlay to your images! Tinting images has never been so easy!
Practically every designer, photographer, and app developer needs to tint images at some point or another. We’ve all been lost in those image editors with thousands of buttons and ambiguous icons and not had the slightest clue what you actually need to do to apply a nice tint color to an image! Isn’t this supposed to be easy?! When you open a clunky image editor to tint an image, you are basically using a chainsaw to cut a steak. It’s not the best tool for the job! So what is the best tool for the job? Image Tinter.
-Apply a tint color to your images!
-Adjust the opacity level of the tint color by using the slider! Full opacity will completely overlay the opaque regions of your image with your selected tint color! You can use this to change the color of icons! You can also lower the opacity of the color to overlay images with a semi-transparent tint!
-You can save your favorite tint colors in the “Favorite Colors” palette! Working on a project that has a certain color scheme? Save all your favorite colors to use on other images later! You won’t have to play with RGB sliders to get your colors back every time you launch the application!
So what are you waiting for? Get Image Tinter now!
